This is a digital representation of how the wallhanging I am designing may look when it's done and made. I envision thin gold thread stitching around the outlines of the critters, and try to imagine this as being made with patchwork fabrics and not just flat areas of colour, then beautifully quilted and hung on a wall. Ok maybe it's a bit tough to imagine but I'll be sure to post a picture of the finished product here too when it's done (my mother is the quilting genius, not me, I just design the things). This will be available as an applique pattern in the not-too-distant future.
The top panel is a Japanese Phoenix, or Houou (hoo-oo). The middle panel is a Kirin, or Japanese Unicorn. The bottom panel is a tatsu, or Japanese Dragon. I've studied lots of different depictions of each of the three and come up with my own unique compromise between traditional design and artistic license. I've tried to stay with the more traditional somewhat earthy tones as I didn't want it too clown-bright.
I request that this design (including the elements within it) not be appropriated for your own use in any fashion, commercial or non-commercial please
This is absolutely stunning! I love the poses and the colours are not to clown-bright And the flowers in the background remind me a bit of William Morris's work, amazing job! Must fav!

95% Percent of teens would have a breakdown if The Jonas Brothers were standing on the edge of a tower ready to jump, copy and paste if your a part of the 5% who would bring a lawn chair and popcorn!
That is fantastic!! The colors are of wonderful contrast (good balance of bright/pastel) and posses the qualities of earth, and the border is tastefully done.
Personally, I think you should really try a career in designing these types of things and mass produce them, you would make alot of money!! (cause I would SO buy one! )
That's what my mother and I are doing We're in the process of getting all the boring business stuff sorted out and I'm designing up a storm and soon our patterns will appear in shops all over Australia. We'll be trying to get into the American market too eventually.
That would be wonderful!! I love your designs and I'm sure they would sell well here on the American market, considering there is a sudden boom of interest in foreign designs over here.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
